Contemporary and minimalist wedding on lake Orta

Wedding Lake Orta

For their contemporary and minimalist wedding, Muriel and Cédric — our French bride and groom, both passionate about sports and devoted to the art of living — fell head over heels for Lake Orta.

Their wish? To tie the knot in an intimate setting, surrounded by their closest loved ones, in one of the most romantic and unspoiled locations in Italy.

The ceremony

For the religious ceremony, a moment especially dear to Muriel’s heart, the couple chose the Santa Maria Assunta church, nestled in the heart of the village of Orta San Giulio.

This vibrant baroque church perfectly embodies the authentic charm of Italy. To add a joyful and soulful touch to the celebration, they invited a gospel choir whose energy lit up the ceremony and carried through to the church steps—welcomed by warm applause from their guests… and even from passing tourists, captivated by the atmosphere.

Boat ride and getaway to Isola San Giulio

After the ceremony, the guests were immersed in the magic of the place with a boat ride across the peaceful waters of Lake Orta—an unspoiled, lesser-known gem brimming with authentic Italian charm.

Their journey then led them to Isola San Giulio, a mysterious island wrapped in silence and spirituality. Legend has it that the island was once infested with serpents and dragons, until Saint Julius arrived, armed only with his faith and his cloak, to build a church upon it.

While the guests enjoyed an exclusive guided tour in French, Muriel and Cédric slipped away into the narrow, poetic alleys of the “Via del Silenzio” to capture their first couple photos as newlyweds.

Sky bar, modern reception and dolce Vita with a lake view

After this journey filled with silence, history, and emotion, it was finally time to celebrate!

For their contemporary and minimalist wedding on Lake Orta, Muriel and Cédric chose one of the lake’s most iconic and modern hotels for their reception. The aperitif, cake cutting, and dance party all took place on the private Sky Bar, offering breathtaking views over the lake. Dinner was held in an elegant panoramic room that perfectly combined sophistication and warmth.

Their wish to share this special place with their loved ones was fully fulfilled. To extend the experience, a French-speaking guided tour was organized the next day for guests who wanted to explore the charming village of Orta San Giulio and the UNESCO-listed Sacro Monte.

Though smaller than the famous Lake Maggiore or Lake Como, Lake Orta is full of hidden treasures. Authentic and peaceful, it’s the perfect setting for a multi-day wedding celebration, blending exploration and shared memories.

As always, a special mention for the table decor, carefully curated to reflect the atmosphere of the venue: contemporary, stylish, and minimalist.

Muriel had a clear vision—only baby’s breath and, above all, lots and lots of candles! The result was a warm, romantic ambiance that made this already unforgettable day even more magical.

Inspiration shoot in a historic villa by Lake Orta

Wedding Venue Lake Orta Intimate Weddings
Wedding Venue Lake Orta Intimate Weddings

Villa Durio is a hidden gem on the western shore of Lake Orta, a place of rare intimacy and refinement. Its owners wish to rent it exclusively to those who truly appreciate the beauty of its frescoes and can immerse themselves in its timeless atmosphere. Perfect for those seeking an exclusive and authentic experience, the villa offers discreet elegance, far from the crowds, allowing guests to enjoy the lake’s charm in a setting of historical allure.

For this inspiration shoot, we envisioned an intimate wedding for an Italo-French couple, Catherine and Marcello, a nod to Catherine Deneuve and Marcello Mastroianni. The idea was to create a harmonious blend of cultures, combining French elegance with the charm of la dolce vita italiana. This fusion was reflected in numerous details: French touches like macarons and champagne, and Italian elements such as a live cooking show featuring coffee or risotto. To add to the Italian flair, we included a stunning vintage Spider car, perfect for the groom’s grand arrival at the ceremony venue.

Our model bride got ready in Pietro Durio’s bedroom, featuring an extraordinary period canopy bed, creating an intimate boudoir atmosphere. The resulting photos are truly captivating.

The ceremony then took place in the villa’s inner courtyard, followed by dinner under the elegant arches. Every floral and decorative detail was carefully designed to blend seamlessly with the surroundings and highlight the timeless beauty of the villa.

For a wedding on Lake Orta with an incredible view of the island, Villa Durio is the perfect venue for celebrations with up to 60-70 guests. This is truly a place chosen by extraordinary couples—those who don’t want a wedding like everyone else, who seek something beyond the usual lake venues, and who desire an exclusive, tailor-made experience in a setting steeped in history.

The villa’s stunning internal courtyard offers a picturesque setting for an intimate ceremony or a beautifully arranged dinner, particularly with imperial tables. Inside, the multiple elegant rooms provide a seamless Plan B for the aperitif and post-dinner festivities, with lower-level spaces perfectly suited for a DJ set.

Villa Durio is not a venue for countless weddings—it is an exclusive gem, reserved for those who truly appreciate its unique character and timeless charm.

Wedding at Lake Orta: Nature, Elegance, and Tuscan Inspiration

Once upon a time… the enchanting wedding of Julie and Robin on the shores of Lake Orta. That’s how I experienced it.

A wedding filled with immense love and romance, surrounded by their family and their little daughter, Adèle.

What better place to celebrate this extraordinary day than Lake Orta? Julie, with Italian roots in this region, felt a special connection to this place.

They chose an elegant and charming palace, the Palazzo Penotti Ubertini, nestled in the heart of the picturesque village of Orta San Giulio, to make this day unforgettable.

The religious ceremony took place in the magnificent church of Santa Maria Assunta, just steps away from the Palazzo, in an enchanting setting with breathtaking views of the lake. Thanks to our French-speaking priest, the ceremony was filled with magic, captivating all the guests who left feeling truly enchanted.

The church of Santa Maria Assunta is steeped in history and beauty. Built in the 18th century on the foundations of an older medieval church, it features a blend of Baroque and classical architectural elements. Its richly decorated interior houses stunning frescoes, intricately carved altars, and artworks that reflect centuries of devotion and religious artistry…

After the ceremony, the guests were warmly welcomed at the Palace Penotti Ubertini with a welcome drink and a cart of savory ice creams featuring gourmet flavors like spritz and gorgonzola, offering a burst of taste with every bite. In the charming interior courtyard, they enjoyed these treats while the couple took part in a photoshoot through the picturesque alleys of the medieval village.

The guests then relaxed in the palace garden, with breathtaking views over the lake and the rooftops of Orta, accompanied by gentle jazz music and a selection of delicious Italian dishes during an extended aperitif.

Wedding Lake Orta Italy

The festivities continued in the sumptuous interior halls of the Palazzo, decorated with a Tuscan-inspired theme. The imperial tables were beautifully set with wooden Tuscan “sottopiatti” adorned with delicate touches of gold, adding a refined elegance. The floral arrangements, composed exclusively of white and yellow flowers, were complemented by olive branches and lemons, enhancing the Mediterranean and natural ambiance. This decor struck a perfect balance between rustic charm and sophistication, creating an authentic atmosphere where the allure of Tuscan style blended harmoniously with the elegance of the venue.

In sum, Julie and Robin’s wedding on the shores of Lake Orta was an unforgettable celebration, where every detail reflected their love and connection to Italian culture. From the emotional ceremony in the church of Santa Maria Assunta to the reception at Palace Penotti Ubertini, every moment was filled with charm, refinement, and authenticity. The Tuscan-inspired decor, with its Mediterranean touches and subtle balance between rusticity and elegance, provided an exceptional setting for this unique day.

This wedding was more than just a celebration; it was a true modern-day fairy tale, where nature and elegance came together harmoniously to celebrate love in such a magical place as Lake Orta.

A "DOLCE VITA" ELOPEMENT ON LAKE ORTA

THE ENCOUNTER

Julie & Andrea contacted me for the first time in April 2020. They wanted to live their romantic “Dolce Vita” elopement by the most romantic lake in Italy, Lake Orta, a real crush for these lovers of Italy. Because of the pandemic as well as various family hardships, they decide to postpone their project, keeping it all the same in the back of their minds.
This is how at the beginning of 2021, our magnificent Franco-Italian couple contacted me and trusted me again to organize their romantic elopement at the start only the two of them…
Always Lake Orta, always love in the background but they decided to add their loved ones (not to mention their little dog Enzo!)… happy to live this special moment all together especially after difficult months that we all know!

A CEREMONY RICH IN EMOTIONS

It was under a blazing sun that Julie and Andrea said “I do” civilly to the Town Hall of Orta San Giulio, a pretty town hall located directly on the shores of Lake Orta.

Andrea arrived by a vintage Vespa while Julie by boat directly from the pontoon of the “Municipio”.

Do you find civil ceremonies boring and formal?

It was without counting on the relatives of our two lovers who knew how to personalize it and give it emotion! After this anxiety period due to the pandemic, it was a real breath of fresh air! Tears of joy flowed but also lots of laughter!

After the ceremony, the couple and their guests threw balloons with their vows hanging from them.

Then they all embarked on a tour of Lake Orta on a typical “motoscafo” and toasted our newlyweds. They also did some group photos on Isola San Giulio. A beautiful memory for Julie and Andrea.

Dolce Vita Wedding Lake Orta

THE ROMANTIC MOMENT

After the boat tour, the guests were able to rest for a while while Julie and Andrea got on their Vespa for a “Dolce Vita” style couple shoot. An intimate moment in which our beautiful lovers were able to enjoy their new status as husband and wife.

Dolce Vita Wedding Lake Orta

THE CELEBRATIONS

At sunset, the guests were invited to an aperitif on the shores of Lake Orta where they were able to enjoy Spritz in good company. After that, they enjoyed a private terrace with a view of San Giulio Island where they tasted a gastronomic menu while enjoying the Jazzy music of our duo.

INSPIRATION SHOOTING AT VILLA BONOLA LAKE ORTA

THE VILLA

Villa Bonola is a period villa from the late 1700s that stands on the shores of the most romantic lake in Italy, Lake Orta. Villa Bonola enjoys splendid indoor and outdoor spaces with a lake view. The owner has recently renovated the entire villa down to the smallest detail to restore all the beauty of the past years and make it a place for classy and intimate weddings and certainly for “destination weddings”.

The shooting project was conceived with the aim of highlighting all the beauty of its past and making it an enchanting place for weddings on the shores of Lake Orta.

PROJECT & "ITALIAN STYLE"

For this Inspiration Shooting at Villa Bonola Lake Orta with Tiziana Gallo we studied a shot with the desire to highlight Italian details such as, for example, a vintage Fiat 500, the ice cream cart, the spaghetti’s alla “Dolce Vita”, the corner of olive oil…

COLORS & "BOHO-MINIMAL" STYLE

As colors we have chosen white, light blue (sugar paper) and terracotta.

These colors are reminiscent of Italy, the lake, the land… the regions we have in common with Tiziana, Piedmont and Puglia where we both have our origins (exactly from the same city, what a coincidence!).

For the decoration we used natural materials as much as possible: terracotta for the vases, pampas herbs, wooden Thonet chairs… The desire was to remain at the same time in a “boho” and “minimal” style both in the setting of the table and in the dress or shoes of Maura Brandino, a very famous Atelier in Torino where you can realize your tailor-made wedding dress.

Even the suit of our groom model, also from Maura Brandino’s Atelier, has been tailored. The trousers are high-waisted and the jacket is double-breasted, representing the natural elegance of Italian men. The color of the suit, which fits perfectly with our mood, represents the typical color of Turin’s buildings.

To stay in a trendy, romantic but always very elegant shooting, we have studied the set-up down to the smallest detail: the Venice Light Blu chargers by Tablesetrentals perfectly match with the Almonds dishes in boho and natural style. The rose gold cutlery is there to add a touch of elegance.

As for the flowers, in addition to dried flowers and pampas herbs we also used lisianthus and magnificent white peonies.

The models were also not chosen at random. He, a typical “latin lover”, with a spontaneous and natural elegance. She, a beautiful blonde from the Nordic countries.

Romantic wedding on Lake Orta

ROMANTIC WEDDING ON LAKE ORTA

Sara and Philipp have a holiday home on Lake Orta. It is therefore natural that they chose this place dear to their hearts for their big day.

They offered their guests a dream day…

First of all, the Protestant religious ceremony, full of emotions, took place in the gardens of Palazzo Penotti-Ubertini, a historic building in the center of Orta San Giulio.

The oppressive heat of this day did not lose the smile for our lovers and their guests !

We then organized a boat trip on the lake with refreshments and Prosecco on board. The wedding reception took place directly in the private villa of the spouses…

If you wish a romantic wedding on Lake Orta, feel free to contact me!

They wanted this day to leave an indelible mark on their eyes and in the eyes of their loved ones.

They married civilly in total privacy in France and decided to organize a symbolic ceremony on the shores of the most romantic lake in Italy, directly on the terrace of Villa Ortea, where the celebrations continued.

A beautiful day full of emotions (even our Wedding Planner has shed a tear!)…

Baroque wedding on Lake Orta

Our newlyweds Elodie and Jeremie are very private people, they do not want their faces to appear and we respect their choice. However, we wanted to show you the decoration of their amazing baroque wedding ..

A wonderful decoration thanks to the tastes of our Swiss spouses but also thanks to the know-how of our Wedding Planner.

The colors chosen were white and green raised by a beautiful golden. All this on an ancient and baroque theme that blends perfectly with the panorama of Lake Orta.

The preparation of the couple took place in a suite of Villa Crespi, the official civil ceremony in the garden of Villa Bossi and the reception at Villa Decio.

A special ceremony on Lake Orta

FROM RUSSIA TO SWIZERLAND AND THEN TO ORTA SAN GIULIO….

Adeliya and Matteo live in Swizerland, Adeliya is Russian, Matteo Italian. So they chose Lake Orta as the panorama for their big day. They contacted us to arrange their wedding ceremony, but  not  just any ceremony. They wanted a special ceremony, something exiting that would totally represent them.

Adeliya, such an elegant bride, knew just what she wanted for this day: Bohemian Chic style with some very out of the ordinary flowers.

So, far from the crowds, in the private gardens of the Palazzo Umbertini, in total privacy, Adeliya and Matteo said “yes” in the prescence of their loved ones.

They continued with  dinner and the celebration party at the Hotel Ristorante Leon d’Oro.
